Practice Experience
Robert
Vaage has an extensive background as a
medical malpractice trial lawyer in California.
After law school, he originally worked
for a small litigation defense firm in
Sacramento before returning to San Diego
to join the firm of Rhoades, Hollywood
& Neil, where he prepared major cases
in a variety of personal injury litigation.
In 1986, Robert Vaage was asked to join
the law firm of Daniel Broderick. It was
there that Mr. Vaage developed his expertise
as a trial lawyer specializing in medical malpractice. Since then, his practice
has expanded to include personal injury, employment/discrimination law, HMO, nursing home and elder abuse law, product liability,
insurance bad faith and cases involving
children.
Robert Vaage's practice as a skilled trial
lawyer in California includes the development
and supervision of every aspect of the
case. Mr. Vaage utilizes the latest in
research and trial preparation technology
and has tried numerous cases before judges,
juries and arbitration panels.

Robert Vaage received an "AV" rating from
Martindale-Hubbell, a nationwide legal
publication. Their AV rating is the highest
rating available to a lawyer, and it is
a rating that is achieved by only a select
group of lawyers. For San Diego lawyers,
it is based upon a confidential survey
of local attorneys and judges.
Other Experience
Robert
Vaage has acted as a party arbitrator
in Kaiser
and medical malpractice
arbitrations since 1989. He has also been
retained as an expert for both the plaintiff
and defendant in legal malpractice cases
involving an underlying medical malpractice
lawsuit.
Interests
Robert
Vaage played international baseball in
such places as Sweden and Australia. He
enjoys collecting baseball sports memorabilia.
His prized possession is a Lou Gehrig
autograph, and one of his favorite childhood
memories is meeting Sandy Koufax and Don
Drysdale. He enjoys spending time with
his wife and two kids and playing golf
on the weekends. His favorite charities
are St. Vincent de Paul (aka Father Joe),
Boys Town, Hogar Infantil "La Gloria"
orphanage, and his alma mater, UCSD. He's
a supporter and participant in the Big
Brothers program, and he's been with the
same "little brother" (now an adult and
good friend) for the past 13 years.

be elected to the American Board of Trial
Advocates (ABOTA), an attorney must first
meet a rigorous standard of successful cases
tried to verdict, and then be voted for acceptance
by the other members.
