From those experiences, we have become intimately familiar with the anatomy of the spine and spinal cord, spinal nerves, disc herniation, hardware, pedicle screws, nerve grafts, percutaneous surgeries, surgical equipment, monitoring devices, anesthesia, pain medication, x-rays, CT scans, MRI findings, and even accident reconstruction, speed calculations and line-of-sight. We have referred patients to surgeons, specialists, physical therapists and pain management experts for treatment and second opinions, above and beyond the litigation and are networked with some of the finest surgeons in the nation, including neurosurgeons and neurologists who treat and repair brachial plexus injuries. We have assisted paraplegics, quadriplegics and other people who have serious side effects due to spinal injury.

In addition to brachial plexus injuries, we have seen other birth injuries caused by forceps, a wrapped umbilical cord, placenta abruptio or previa. We have searched through the state archives concerning statistical and citation data on specific nursing homes. We know what type of documentation is required to be maintained by these homes, as well as the proper ratio of nurse and staff per patient or resident. We know to look at the contracts between management and the nursing home owners for incentives to take cost-cutting measures that would affect the care given to residents. In one case, the nursing home staff was so shorthanded and busy doing the laundry that an elderly gentleman died of restrictive asphyxia by his waist restraint after falling out of bed.
