Defective Snack and Activity Trays for Strollers Pose Strangulation Hazard

Many parents equip their strollers with snack trays, toys, and other add-on items to help keep their children entertained while on the move. Unfortunately, these products can pose risks if they are not designed or manufactured properly.

Most recently, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of nearly 800 Tray Vous snack and activity trays with connectors. According to the agency, the opening between the recalled tray and stroller seat bottom allows an unharnessed child’s body to pass through but could trap a child’s head, posing a strangulation hazard.

For parents who are concerned that they may have one of the recalled Tray Vous snack and activity trays, the three-piece units include a black plastic tray with a cup holder, a left connector and a right connector. The tray measures about 15 inches wide by 6 inches deep by .75 inches thick. The left and right plastic connectors measure about 4 inches long by 1.75 inches wide by .75 inches thick and are used to connect the tray to the stroller’s base. “Tray Vous” and “Patent Approved US7942437B2” are printed on a sticker underneath the tray.

Tray Vous is based here in San Diego, but its products were sold at juvenile product stores nationwide and online at,, and from May 2011 through June 2012 for about $50.

Parents are advised to immediately remove the recalled trays and connectors from strollers and contact Tray Vous to receive a free replacement tray and connectors.
